According to classical texts on Vedic astrology, the deities ruling Ashwini nakshatra are the Ashwini Kumaras, the physicians of the Gods. Meditating with the mantra of your moon nakshatra is a powerful way to connect with the symbology of that nakshatra which will have a significant influence over your purpose in this life. Chanting the mantra of your nakshatra can also remedy or strengthen the placement of the moon in your chart. In the video below, we document the sound of a simple nama mantra of the Ashwini Kumaras:
oṁ aśvinīkumārābhyām namaḥ
|| ॐ अश्विनीकुमाराभ्याम् नमः ||
Listen to the sound and feel it working to transform your life or chant along with the video to meditate with this ancient mantra.
The Sanskrit “Aśvinī” (अश्विनी) can be translated to mean “horse possessor”, and “Kumāra” (कुमार) means “prince” or “young man”. The term refers to a pair of twin horse-headed deities who were born from the Sun and his wife Saṃjñā while they had taken the form of a stallion and mare. They are considered to have healing powers and act as the physicians of the Gods. Ashwini nakshatra is connected with themes related to speed, movement, stamina, medicine and travel. Ashwini nakshatra is often considered the star of transport. This asterism is symbolized by a horse’s head.
