How to Use Our Nakshatra Calculator

This nakshatra calculator will provide you with the nakshatra for today in your location. It also provides a complete panchanga, a Sanskrit word meaning “five-limbs”, symbolizing the five ways of categorizing time on a particular day. These are the vara (weekday), tithi (phase of the moon), nakshatra (lunar asterism), yoga and karana (more precise divisions of time used to pinpoint auspicious moments). This calculator can also tell you which nakshatra was operating during any time, such as your time of birth.

To find the nakshatra for today in your location, follow these steps:

  1. Enter today’s date into the “Date” section.
  2. Under “Place Of Birth” enter your current location.
  3. Click “Get Result”.

Our calculator will now show you the information. If you just want to find which nakshatra is operating today, look under the section labeled “Nakshatra”. The first nakshatra listed is most likely the one which was operating during sunrise, which becomes the nakshatra for the day. The results may show something like this: “Ardra (Lord: Rahu) : 02:50 PM – 01:43 PM”. In this case, the first time given “02:50 PM” is the moment from the previous day when the moon first moved into the given nakshatra. The second time given “01:43 PM” is the moment on the current day when the moon will move to the next nakshatra, which is listed below the first one.
