The Sanskrit “Rudra” (रुद्र) can be translated as “the roarer” and it refers to a fierce form of Shiva who is considered the god of storms, destruction and hunting.

Ardra nakshatra is connected with themes of fierce activity, heroism and intense effort. Ardra is often considered a star of destruction. Ardra natives have an ability to undertake activities which require one to go through some great struggle to accomplish an ultimate objective, their fuel for this being a deep inner pain which drives them toward transformation. This asterism is symbolized by a teardrop or raindrops.
