The Sanskrit word “Vishnu” (विष्णु) can be translated to mean “one who is everywhere”, connecting Shravana nakshatra with themes of all-pervading divine sound vibrations, eternal knowledge and preservation of truth. Shravana is often considered the star of learning, something which was primarily accomplished through attentive hearing, called śrāvaṇam in Sanskrit, in ancient Vedic times. Themes of transcendence and the pursuit of divine knowledge can be found in this nakshatra. It is symbolized by an ear or three footsteps.
